Genealogical Research

Genealogy is "an auxiliary discipline of history, which deals with the origin and descent of families and lineages" (Treccani).

It's regarded as a science in its own right and, as such, has its own specific terminology.

The word genealogy derives from the Greek γενεαλογία, a combination of γενεά (origin, birth) and the suffix -λογία (-logia), meaning “study, doctrine, theory.” Literally, therefore, it means “the study of origins.”

Which type of research is right for you?

Let’s build your project together, step by step.

✤ Basic Research – Direct Ancestors

Ideal if you are taking your first steps into family history research. We identify your direct ancestors and provide the essential documents needed to establish the first links between generations.

  • Direct ancestors – paternal line only

  • Direct ancestors – maternal line only

  • All direct ancestors up to the 4th generation

  • All direct ancestors, as far back as the records allow

✤ Extended Research – Collateral Branches

Ideal if you have already reconstructed all the branches of your direct ancestors and want to explore the connections between different family groups, or if you want to trace the common ancestors you share with a DNA match.

  • Specific collateral branches

  • All collateral branches of the paternal line

  • All collateral branches of the maternal line

✤ In-Depth Research

Perfect for those who want to know everything — absolutely everything — about their ancestors.

  • All direct ancestors, as far back as the records allow

  • All collateral branches

✤ Documentary Research on Direct Ancestors

For those who want to go “beyond”, enriching their family history research with information that does not appear in civil registration records.

  • Additional parish records and registers

  • Military conscription lists / military service records

  • Notarial archives

✤ Review and Verification of an Existing Family Tree

If you have carried out the research yourself, or entrusted it to someone else, but you are not completely confident in the results or have some doubts…

  • Verification of the information entered

  • Verification and cross-checking of the documents consulted

  • Confirmation or reorganization of the family tree
